Welcome back guys! Today I brought up with another interesting K-Drama called “Descendants of the Sun” broadcasted on KBS2 from February 24 to April 14,2016 on Wednesdays and Thursdays for 16 episodes. It was a major hit in South Korea and received immense popularity across Asia. You will be surprise to know that it had the average viewer rate of 30.09% and highest viewer rate reaching up to 41.6% which is a huge view rate as compared to other K-dramas telecasted at the same time.
Due to the immense popularity of the drama, KBS aired 3 additional special episodes from April 20 to 22 containing highlights and the best scenes from the series.
Are you excited to know about this drama? Then why so hesitate? Let’s move on!
Song Joong-ki as Yoo Si-jin
The team leader of Alpha Team, an elite special forces unit in South Korea. He is a soldier from a family with a military background. He highly respects his father, who is honorably discharged as a Sergeant Major. He possesses both academic and physical abilities, thus making him a complete soldier. He graduated from the Korea Military Academy and is currently a Captain in the army. His belief that beautiful women, the elderly and children deserve to be protected, his courage to intervene when high school students smoke on the streets, and his common sense that wrong is wrong despite having a gun pointed at his head are all part of Si-jin’s love for country and a soldier’s honor. He is an easy-going, lively character who is confident and at times witty and likes to joke around, depending on the situation. He was later promoted to Major.
Song Hye-kyo as Doctor Kang Mo-yeon
A cardiothoracic specialist who works at Haesung Hospital. She is portrayed as an assertive woman who has great abilities but would rather confine herself to the operating theater. She believes that competence overrules connections but is hit by the harsh reality that she cannot go anywhere without any connections. She is a woman with principles and doesn’t fall prey easily to her emotions. Overall, she is the complete package – her speaking abilities are unrivaled, and she is not afraid to admit her mistakes.
Jin Goo as Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young
A soldier down to the core – even when he is not working it is as if he is wearing the clothes of a soldier rather than those of a civilian. His heart moves at the thought that he is protecting his family and his homeland with his own two hands. He has experience in dealing with disasters. Since heavy actions are more comfortable for him than lighthearted conversations, he has a hard time expressing himself freely. However, within the shell of this hardcore soldier is a good heart that is deeper than anyone else’s.
Kim Ji-won as First Leutenant Yoon Meong-ju
An army daughter who is also the daughter of Lieutenant General Yoon, commander of the South Korean Special Forces Brigade. She follows her father’s footsteps and graduates from the Korea Military Academy before doing an internship at Haesung Hospital. At her first assignment she meets Dae-young, a non-commissioned soldier.
Last but not the least, I want to say that if you are fascinated about action as well as romance, I strongly recommend this drama. I am sure you will enjoy it!
